Pelco P (Pacom) Protocol Files

Updated: 10:36 AM 8/12/2025
P protocol's primary use to control the operation and comfiguration of a large matrix switcher. The basic design of the matrix was done by the Pacom Company from Austrrilia. Pacom called their version a "2030 System". When Pelco first starting using it, the version that Pelco was using was named "Pelco System 9750" or "CM-9750 System". As technology improived a redesign of the hardware resulted in a new, but mostly compatible, system that was called "CM-9760" (and then CM-9770, etc.).

Due to the veriaty of sub-systems that are attached to the basic computer, there are many sub-manuals needed to fully document the system. Some of the manuals describe:

  1. The Data File Structure.
  2. The Disk Data File Structure. No other Pelco systems have a hard disk requirement.
  3. Various formats for time as it is displayed on the user's sccreen.
  4. Special sections for the flowing stand alone sub-chassis:
    1. Alarm detection
    2. Relay control
    3. VCR Control
    4. Data Translators
    5. General purpose interface
    6. The actual switching matrix (MXB)
    7. The Control Computer (CC1)
    8. Network Interface Unit
    9. And several other units
